Blair Mann on Why Running Is Better When You Share It With Others

There is a lot of feelings out there right now around Covid. Especially right now in Nova Scotia, with the more recent tighter lockdowns and restrictions are taking place. I get it; I miss the running community, I miss racing, I miss my run crew that I have barely seen at all over the past year.

This conversation with Blair hit home for me with all that has been going on over the past few weeks. We have to remember that we all in the same storm, and even though we are experiencing it together at the same time, everyone's individual experience is different. We have to respect others' feelings and generally be kind to one another.

That said, this conversation is about so much more than Covid. Blair is a Father, Husband, an accomplished Ultra Runner, and the founder of Moncton Trail Running. You know for sure about Blair when you first meet him that he loves trail running, but he loves the trail running community even more.

Over the years, while completing many ultras, including the Vermont 100 mile races, Blair has been battling some pretty extreme stomach issues, which are now preventing him from running these longer ultra distances that he loves. In the beginning, he found himself avoiding ultra races because he could no longer participate the way that he used to. But now, he is focused on giving back and helping others which has grown his love for the sport even more.

The story about how Moncton Trail Running has come to be is a great one, and it truly goes to show that when you put positive energy out into the world, good things happen.

I enjoyed this conversation with Blair. It has been far too long since I have seen and run with my friends in New Brunswick and see them at races. I know things are difficult right now, and in these difficult and dark times, I hope this conversation brings light to your day and into your earbuds.
