FAQ

Q: HOW MUCH TIME DO I NEED TO TRAIN?

This depends on you. We work with you to assess your goals and design your training plan to meet your needs. There are no cookie cutter plans that just use the time you have available. The focus is on creating a training plan that fits into your life, one that you can commit to and not have to sacrifice the time you already have to spend doing other things that are important to you. We focus on training smarter, not longer. And yes this is true even for ultra distance runners.

Q: HOW DOES ONLINE COACHING WORK?

All your workouts will be provided through the Final Surge web based coaching platform. Your coach will review your workouts on a weekly basis and that data will be used to plan your future weeks workouts. Really, what that means is you will get your workouts at the beginning of the week, after your coach has reviewed your workouts from the week before. You will have access to communicate with your coach through Final Surge and expect a 24 hour response time to any questions you have. In addition there is a monthly video chat to delve deeper into your current and future training, goals, mindset, race strategy, nutrition and anything else you may want to cover.

Q: DO I NEED A GPS/HEART RATE MONITOR?

The short answer is no. Workouts are set based on perceived level of effort (RPE). Heart rate monitors are great if you have one, it can be useful backup data to check in on, but it’s not strictly necessary.

Q: IS THERE A MINIMUM COMMITMENT?

Because it takes a little while to get up to speed and develop a great coach/athlete relationship and start seeing results, we ask that our athletes join with a minimum 3 month commitment. While it does take longer than 3 months to see real results in training, within the first 3 months we can have an impact, and develop a great coaching relationship, and co-create a full plan to move forward with.

Q: WHAT IS THE CANCELLATION POLICY?

You can opt-out of coaching at the end of any month (after the initial 3 months), we just ask that you give us us a minimum of 2 weeks notice before your current month’s schedule ends.

Q: WHAT IS THE REFUND POLICY?

All athletes have 30 days to try coaching. If within the the first 30 days, if it’s not for you, we will refund you the first payment amount in full.

Q: WHAT IF I’M INJURED AND CAN’T TRAIN?

A: No problem, injuries happen to us all, we will pause training until you are ready to resume again (within 1 calendar year)

Q: WHAT IF SOMETHING ELSE DISASTROUS HAPPENS AND I CAN’T TRAIN?

A: We get it, we are people too, and pretty reasonable ones. Let us know and we will work something out with you.

Q: I HAVE A QUESTIONS THAT ISN’T COVERED HERE.

A: Questions about coaching that we haven’t covered? You can email Coach Rick at info@newleafrunco.com, or schedule a free consultation to discuss coaching.
