Mark MacMurty Family Man and Ultra Endurace Athlete

This is a conversation about taking charge of your health. I’ve been coaching Mark for a few years now and but it was great to sit down and have a conversation with him without my coach hat on. I throughly enjoyed catching up with him and talking all things ultra running.

Mark MacMurty an unlikely athlete who was not able to run a kilometre by the time he was 30, needed to take charge of his health or face taking medication for the rest of his life to help manage some of the symptoms he had associated with a poor diet and a sedentary lifestyle. Through making healthy lifestyle changes though diet and exercise Mark has completed a total 180 transition. Not only is he running more than a kilometre now, he’s running marathons and trail ultra marathons too, and he’s also the guy that cycles 14k when it’s -20 degrees outside to meet us for a morning workout at 5:30 am. Oh and he’s a father of 3 young kids and has to fit all of his training in between managing his responsibilities as a father.

Not only do we get into the the story of how Mark turned his health around, we get into talking about all things ultra running as well including his experience pacing at the Capes 100 race back in 2019.

This is a conversation about making lifestyle changes, setting priorities and and going after your goals.

I've know Mark for many years, but I throughly enjoyed having this opportunity to sit down with him and I got to learn a lot about him that I didn't know before.
